TTQT - Can Obama change the world?

Posted by McAWilliams under Written

How late am I in posting this up, last Thursdays Twitter Question Time was all about the hype around Barack Obama, and now that it has died off a bit, my question was “Can this man change the world, and what can he do for Ireland”

moonstruckmania well it seems anything would be a step up from that!

Mike_Kiely I’d like to, but I think he’s quite conservative at heart.

icedcoffee hmm… well there is already change with him behind the first black president, setting huge precedent for other countries.

emilytully I think he’ll be like the iphone, much anticipated, major hype, but questionable as to whether or not he is the best. I also think he hot. Yes I would. Sorry to lower the tone…

wowzer85 he has a mess to start cleaning up in America before he gets to the rest of the world! He will turn our economy around, and ultimately will have it’s positve effects on the global economy.

darraghdoyle it’s not can obama change the world. He already has. I see him more of a poster boy for ppl who do want to take more of a part in changing their world. He’s “proved” it can be done, no matter what your background. So there’ll be a lot done around that. will he change America? I think so. Strong team and administration with effective use of media could help a lot w/ empowerment i reckon he’ll persuade america it can change, so it will. That will have knock on effects.

jkeyes I would love to say yes he’ll change the world, but I think the task is too massive to achieve very much in 4 years. I hope he can back up his speech making with decision making. I don’t see much change for Ireland, Afghanistan and Iraq are much higher on the agenda. Looking forward to his science and technology slant. If his grasp of the media (old and new skool) is anything to go by he’ll definitely make an impact. I wish him well.

aileenwilliams he want’s to keep more business’ in America and not have them go to country’s that offer them tax incentives, so not looking good for Ireland.

joescanlon I don’t think Obama will do much for Ireland directly. Our politicians could learn a lot from him/his energy/charisma etc

lecraic his election changes the way people think, which in itself is a very powerful force, maybe THE most powerful.

sineadcochrane On topic? http://tinyurl.com/58odgh (expand) ah, makes me laugh far more than it should.

marramgrass Believe it or hope for it? Maybe different answers. I *hope* so.

bigstevie1275 I happy that he got voted in and glad to see the USA get there first black president and hopefully he will make a difference BUT at the end of the day hes a politician and I think that says it all.

PattyHankins He can make a difference. I think it will be because he will work with others to reach consensus rather than starting wars

stretchneil he’s like the living embodiment of a rorschach test. He can never be what people want him to be, but by allowing people to project their hopes onto him, he has already changed things substantially.

gavreilly What I’d like to see most is his campaign’s use of social media being carried over into his actual governance. His command of it to unite and buld momentum was immense, I want his legacy to the world to be open, communicative, transparent Government.

So there you have it, its good to see America’s hopes realised by the rest of the world, I like others am hoping this guy can do as much as possible.
